The winners of the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement and Community Awards have been announced. Renewable Recyclers was named the winner of The Salvation Army Employment Plus Business and Employment Award category. Based in Wollongong NSW, Renewable Recyclers is a social enterprise of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Australia. With a main focus on reducing, reusing and recycling electronic waste or E-waste, the organisation looks to create green jobs and training opportunities for those who have been affected by unemployment in their local community. With staff who have a strong willingness to learn and a desire for the company to perform at its best, Renewable Recyclers have invested in large staff management programs, occupation health and safety courses and on the job training to increase staff safety and further their skills whilst performing everyday tasks.

Renewable Recyclers hire their staff through our outstanding Illawarra sites, and are to be commended on an excellent achievement!

Maria came right out and asked me if I felt that her being 59 years of age would prejudice her application. My response was simple: as an employer, I just need to know that the job will be done well, all tasks completed and our customers given excellent service. Maria was ready and eager to help us meet these needs.
