Deputy PM praises TSAEP’s partnership with Brookfield Multiplex

25/11/2009

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Employment, Julia Gillard, has used her speech to the NSW ALP State Conference to draw attention to the highly successful partnership between The Salvation Army Employment Plus and construction giant Brookfield Multiplex.

Brookfield Multiplex joined forces with TSAEP in mid 2009 to lead the delivery of the Nation Building Primary Schools Capital Works Program with socially responsible employment practices, as part of the Building the Education Revolution (BER) program.

The schools program will see Brookfield Multiplex manage the design and construction of infrastructure works to 189 individual public schools in the western Sydney region.

TSAEP is assisting Brookfield Multiplex and their subcontractors to find suitable applicants for positions relating to the program, while also managing any necessary training.

While speaking on the BER program that is being delivered in schools across the country, Gillard praised the partnership:

“Some of the best features of the [BER] program are the least well known. Like the innovative partnership between the construction business Brookfield Multiplex and the Salvation Army – to hire people from the Salvo’s lists of job seekers to fill the newly created BER jobs, ranging from cadet jobs to project management.”
