Joining Forces - New hotel offers local job seekers new pathways to employment

1/09/2010
The Salvation Army Employment Plus, AHS Hospitality and Hostec have teamed together to staff the housekeeping department of Wollongong's newest hotel, The Chifley. The partnership has provided nine new jobs and an opportunity for those job seekers selected to gain a Certificate III in Hospitality Services.

The process began with Hostec conducting information sessions for job seekers, at The Salvation Army Employment Plus offices in Wollongong, about available employment and training opportunities. Goran Drleski, site manager at The Salvation Army Employment Plus Wollongong, said "this is a great opportunity for nine people, some of who are from a disadvantaged background, to gain valuable skills and training with a renowned company in the hospitality sector." The Salvation Army Employment Plus is always looking at ways to be good for both the business, and for the community.
