Woorabinda Mine Readiness graduate receives industry award

Patricia Rankin, a Woorabinda mother-of-six has been awarded with a high commendation in the operator category at the Queensland Resources Awards for Women. Patricia, who used to work at the local primary school, did her traineeship at Anglo-American's Dawson Mine in December 2008 as a part of The Salvation Army Employment Plus and the Department of Education and Indigenous Relations joint project; Woorabinda Mine Readiness Program.

She says of her job "The thing I love most about my job is the fact that I get to drive some of the largest machinery in the world" she also mentions "There are so many challenging elements to what I do. I am constantly learning different methods of operating and ways to apporach different situations".
