Through Smart, Skilled and Hired, young people can become work ready or kickstart a fulfilling career by connecting to training, mentoring, work experience placements, and other support to build their skills and experience.
In addition, by participating in the program, local businesses that provide opportunities for young people will benefit from access to job-ready employees with the skills and training they need for their businesses.
The program will be open to young people (15 to 24 years) and businesses in the Central Coast and Hunter regions.
We know there are lots of reasons why it can be hard for young people to get a job, including not having qualifications or certificates, not having access to transport to get to work, mental health or drug problems, or not having somewhere safe to live. Smart, Skilled and Hired can help you build important skills, and experience, making it easier to find work.

Service providers will work closely with local employers to understand what employment opportunities and skills gaps exist, ensuring young people who participate in the program are job ready with the right skills, and will be supported through the first six months of their employment.
Employers who are interested in providing employment opportunities to young people are encouraged to register their interest with their local Employment Plus office, or by completing the form at the bottom of this page.
