Writing a cover letter

What does a cover letter include?

  • A header with full name, address, phone number and email address.
  • The date, name, title and address of the person recruiting for the position.
  • An introductory paragraph that states the position being pursued and qualifications for the position.
  • The body of the letter which contains:
    • Your skills, special knowledge and personality
    • Why you want to work with this company
    • Your knowledge of the company’s needs and mission
    • Your knowledge of industry trends, vocabulary and growth areas.
  • A final paragraph that states the next step you will pursue.
