The JobMaker Hiring Credit administered by the ATO is an incentive aimed to encourage businesses to employ additional job seekers aged 16–35 years. Our previous article ‘JobMaker Hiring Credit’, summarised the scheme’s eligibility criteria.

This article provides a brief update for eligible employers with links to the key dates for the scheme.

The JobMaker Hiring Credit administered by the ATO is an incentive aimed to encourage businesses to employ additional job seekers aged 16–35 years. Employers must be eligible and be registered for the scheme.

Register for JobMaker

Eligible employers were able to register for the JobMaker Hiring Credit scheme from 6 December 2020. Employers must be registered by the due date for the first JobMaker period they are claiming for, and only need to register once.

Check the key dates for registration, reporting and claiming for each JobMaker period.

One registered, eligible employers can claim the JobMaker Hiring Credit payment for each JobMaker period.

JobMaker Hiring Credit key dates

Eligible employers can begin to claim payments from 1 February 2021. Employers can also claim payments for eligible additional employees for up to 12 months from their employment start date.

The scheme is due to end of 6 October 2022.

Employers are reminded that if they are receiving JobKeeper Payments for their eligible employees, they are unable to participate in the JobMaker Hiring Credit Scheme.

JobKeeper is ending on 28 March 2021

The JobKeeper Payment Scheme will end on 28 March 2021. This means that JobKeeper payments and any JobKeeper enabling directions issued to employees will stop applying on 29 March 2021.
