Common duties
- Helping patients with personal care, mobility and communication needs
- Following therapy plans
- Observing and reporting changes in patients’ condition
- Reporting complaints
- Assisting with rehabilitation tasks and exercises
- Providing direct support to nurses, and other staff
Experience and qualifications
- You do not need any formal qualifications to work as a Nursing Support Worker and Personal Care Worker, however VET and university are both common study pathways.
- You may also be required to hold certain checks, licenses and tickets, including:
- Manual handling and safe lifting practices certificate
- Driver’s license
- National police check
- Working with vulnerable people and children check
- First aid certificate
- CPR certificate
