You've probably heard people talking about AI (Artificial Intelligence). It can seem confusing or even a little intimidating.

The good news? You don't need to be good with technology to use it.

Think of AI like a helpful assistant that you can chat with. You simply type a question, and it helps you find information, write something, explain a topic or give you ideas.

You don't need any special skills to get started. Think of AI as a helpful assistant.

AI can help you:

  • Write or improve your resume
  • Create a cover letter
  • Practise interview questions
  • Explain confusing letters or forms
  • Write emails
  • Plan meals or a weekly budget
  • Learn something new, step by step

AI is a tool that responds to what you type. The message you type is called a prompt. You can ask AI a question, explain what you need help with or describe what you want it to do. The more details you include, the more helpful the answer is likely to be. For example, instead of typing "resume", you could write, "I need a resume for a cleaning job. I have two years of cleaning experience." If the first answer isn't quite right, you can ask AI to make changes, such as "Make it shorter," "Use simpler words," or "Add more detail." It's like having a conversation where you work together to get the result you want.

Stay safe

AI is a helpful tool, but it isn't always correct.

Before making important decisions, always double-check the information. And never enter personal details such as your passwords, bank details, Medicare number or Tax File Number.

Ready to give it a try?

There are many AI tools available. Here are three free options to get you started:
