Employment Plus officially opened for business at Hunter TAFE

The Salvation Army Employment Plus, together with Hunter TAFE, celebrated their official site opening at the Newcastle campus on Thursday 26 November.

Employment Plus Managing Director, Greg Moult along with Newcastle City Councillor, Declan Clausen and Hunter TAFE Institute Director, Christine Warrington, declared the site officially open at a gathering of local employers, TAFE officials and Salvation Army representatives.

Greg Moult said the day marked the beginning of an especially important partnership between Employment Plus, Australia’s largest not for profit jobactive service provider and Hunter TAFE.

“Our mission is to assist job seekers into sustainable employment. To be truly successful in doing that we need the support not only of employers, but also experts in providing people with the vocational skills that employers require.

“The importance of training and qualifications that meet the needs of industry cannot be underestimated. That’s Hunter TAFE’s strength and why our site here at Newcastle and also Cessnock, Cooma, Muswellbrook, Wyong and Yass where we share facilities with Hunter TAFE, will prove so beneficial,” said Mr Moult.

Depending on the specific needs of local employers, Employment Plus can develop pre-employment training for job candidates so they can integrate swiftly into their new workplace. Individual program requirements often include modules delivered by TAFE.

The decision to partner with Employment Plus to deliver an integrated service on campus is all about making it easier for people to gain employment according to Christine Warrington.

“This is a three-way partnership with local industry bringing demand led training and our industry connections together with expert recruitment and job matching services for local job seekers – many of whom are students at Hunter TAFE,” said Ms Warrington.

“Our collaboration and development of relationships with jobactive providers like Employment Plus, local employers and industry provides significant value and will positively impact the skills, jobs and economic growth throughout the region.”
