Taking the step to learn can feel overwhelming. Courses can be expensive, and life often feels too busy. However, here are some easy, free, and accessible courses that we recommend giving a go.

1. Look into free courses run by your local university.

RMIT Melbourne: Free Australian English classes.

  • Classes are run by RMIT university.
  • You will practice reading, listening, speaking, and some writing.

  • Wanting to explore your passions and interests? Check out Open Pathways by Charles Sturt University to find out more.
  • Coursera: is a great website platform that offers a wide range of courses.
    • English, Spanish, Arabic, French, and more language subtitles available.

4. YouTube

  • YouTube is a valuable resource which offers many courses and videos to develop your current skillset. All you need to do is type your question into the YouTube search bar to access a course right for you.
  • E.g. Khan Academy, TED-Ed

5. The Salvation Army Employment Plus provides many training opportunities and skill building events.

  • You can earn PBAS points for participation in our training courses available on the Salvation Army Employment Plus website, however, we encourage you to give them a go regardless.
