A recent ‘Connecting Futures’ Job Fair event in Parramatta was an ‘hour of power’ for employers, trainers and job seekers alike.
The Salvation Army Employment Plus Sydney Greater West region’s job fair in May attracted close to 200 job seekers and more than and 20 stakeholders, including potential employers, community groups and training organisations.
Regional Manager, Tracy Robinson, said the atmosphere was one of excitement and engagement, reflective of the strong effort put in by the Employment Plus team and its partners.
“The casual format provided a vibrant and productive environment with multiple interviews conducted on the day alongside presentations. Pleasingly, a number of potential employment opportunities are now coming to fruition.
“Such events provide us with valuable opportunities to network with employers, foster connections between different stakeholders and, of course, facilitate opportunities for our participants.
“It’s a short time commitment where all attendees can connect them over a light lunch to find either jobs or training – or staff or students. There’s benefits for all involved.”
Robinson says early feedback from stakeholders suggests they will be keen on attending future events, which will undoubtedly bring more positive outcomes.

Surplus food from the lunch was donated to the Parramatta Corp’s community food bank.
“This highlights both the dedication we have to empowering our participants in their employment journey and also making a meaningful impact in the community,” she concludes.
