Here are some tips to help you confidently talk about gaps in your resume:
Be honest and upfront. No point hiding the truth - explain the reason for your break. Keep it brief and positive.
For example: “I took time away from the workforce to raise my children and am now ready to re-enter with renewed focus.”
Highlight your transferable skills. Parenting involves organisation, problem-solving, multitasking, and communication, all qualities that employers value.
For example: “During my time as a stay-at-home parent, I managed multiple schedules, coordinated activities, and developed strong problem-solving skills I’m eager to bring to my next role.”
