Work for the Dole means an extra set of hands for your organisation

Last updated: August 13, 2019

If you are from a not-for-profit organisation or government agency, you need to know about the Work for the Dole program.

This truly valuable initiative gives your organisation access to individuals prepared to get hands on and help. Not only do they gain the skills, experience and confidence needed to help them find work, your organisation receives a positive contribution and you have the opportunity to find your next star employee. You may also receive funding for projects or programs.

The Work for the Dole participants who worked with Rowville Community Kitchen are a shining example of what this program can achieve. This group of 15 motivated jobseekers worked to prepare sandwiches, fruit and precooked meals for students and families in need.

“To extend the benefits of the program, we approached Employment Plus to get a team of Work for the Dole candidates involved in the preparation,” explained Christine Smith, from Rowville Community Kitchen.

“The candidates have been fantastic and have learnt valuable food preparation, packaging and logistic skills as they’ve been busy preparing and delivering the fresh and frozen meals across the community.”
